Hello from Belgium,

My name is Gary and i have always had pre war motorcycles.
Last year somebody ran me over distracted in traffic. After an operation i decided to go a little bit safer an take on a car project
My daughter of 5 years old is already in love with the car.

It is a mini leyland 850 from 1977. the car is a 1 owner car and the last registration was in 1991. it has been stalled for over 30 years in a dry environement.

together with the car came a lot of parts. 2x 1275 engine. 1x 998 engine, hoods, cover, ....

The engine in the car is blocked and will be changed for a 1275 that i am starting to rebuild.

They unfortanetly painted the car in a bad way. he red was painted over the original green. (what is the original colour code?)

at the moment the mini is pretty much dismanteled for sandblasting and complete revision. The idee is to put it back to stock standards.

Interesting in a nerdy sort of way:

850, but has opening rear windows

Mk4, but has drip rails

Will it he/she be going back to original? Citron's one of my favourite colours, even before Mr Bean.

Well as it is my first mini ever, I am not sure that it is a MK3 or MK4.

the papers states that it is an 850. Does this originaly not come with opening rear windows?

I am putting it back to original colour and interior. No flares, no tuning parts, not even an electrical fuel pump!

I wouldn't like to say for sure where you are,  there were differences in overseas models, UK 850s had fixed rear windows. It'd be an easier conversion than refitting fixed glass, & as one of the few bits that doesn't rust much there was a plentiful supply in breakers' yards back in the day.

The interior looks Mk4,  the big difference between Mk3 & mk4 is the front subframe mountings, Mk3 didn't have any! You have one (authentically fallen apart) sat under the missing indicator lens, so even more certainly a Mk4.

Yeah, mk4.
Rubber mounted front subframe, dual circuit brakes, single hand brake cable, small rocker switches, mk4 column cowling and stalks.
Drip rails did run into early mk4's, can't remember exactly when they finished.

Ah a 1977 850 was my first car! It was vermilion red/orange and was so much fun. It didn't have opening rear windows as far as I remember

The pictures in your first post are not working.

on of the first things to identify is where the car was built/assembled as they were not the same. And what your car has as standard may not the the same as a standard UK built one.

It is build in Seneffe in belgium.

is there somewhere I can find al the specs from the mini? I have the haynes workshop manual. This only speaks about saloons but not foreign build cars.

There's http://www.minipassi...s/brochures.htm

You might find a local market sales brochure.

The factory parts manuals listed market specific components, but might not have made any distinction for something as obvious and universal as rear windows.
