Hello,

Going to treat the mini with a new windscreen as mine is just to tatty and heavily marked over the years.

Looking on mini spares there’s different tints and options of screen. For an Spi 95 model would it be standard glass or green tint?
Thanks in advance

Depends which model it is, whether it was tinted or not.
Mayfair and cooper were tinted as were certain limited editions.
Sprite wasn't.

Yeah mines a Mayfair! I just can’t quite see the green tint in the screen. I’m confident it’s factory due to stamps and vin number correct

Get a sheet of A4 plain white paper hold it against the glass on the inside. If it is a tinted screen it will show the tint colour, if not tinted you will just see the white paper.

As above, and hold the paper against a half open door window to compare the colour against the paper.

if it was me (and I am still mulling it over) I might consider one with heating element.. just a thought

Is it steamy or foggy for the mist on the inside of the windows? (to improve my English)

I used a heated screen for about 10 years and at least 100.000 mls in my Mini Cabriolet and considered it as one of the best safety updates for a classic Mini, especially for the cabriolet that is even harder to get fog free.

But after I discovered Anti-Fog spray about 3 years ago, I hardly have used the heated screen. And the anti-fog spray works on the side windows too...

When considering a heated screen, a bigger alternator and battery is necessary and it's a dashboard out job. Connectors could be hidden in the screen vent but when the manufacturer decide to change that connector again, it's a dash out job again.

And not all Drivers like the visible heating wire - visit a Ford dealer first and ask if they have a car with headed screen to have a look...

I don't know, if it's only a continental problem, but the delivery time can be a problem, I waited about 3 Month for a new one once.

Funny observation: as the headed front screen is clearly made for English cars here in Germany the wrong side get's demisted faster and the passenger gets better view first... :D

Is it steamy or foggy ....

condensation - humidity inside (the ever damp interior of the classic car) and cold on the outside

people do often say 'steamed up' or 'fogged up' though, either works just to get the point across I suppose

the spray is a good shout though, I used to have a little bottle for the inside of the paintball mask, worked wonders.  I'm guessing the same works for bikers or race helmets

some useful info there I wouldn't have thought of though cheers
