a switch is a switch obviously that works either way with no trouble at all just closing the circuit

if you can't make the illuminated switch work in reverse due to some issue with pin layout, or a built in resistor or something then why not just use a standard toggle switch and mount your own LED above or below which can be wired up the right way

may not be the exact layout or style you had in mind but certainly less agro than rewiring your car in any significant way

I have done exactly that ,this is my temporary current arrangement

I was looking at tidying things up, also most accessories (dash Cam, GPS speedo) don't work when connected to positive earth supplies, I may look at taking a separate fused supply direct from the Battery and wire it as negative earth for the accessories?

yeah that's true you could just run a seperate supply (or small fusebox even) direct from the battery and use a relay from switched earth to turn it on an off ?  just for your modern items

I suppose when you go down that road though it all gets a bit complicated and wiring all over the place lol

I would not be tempted to fit any negative earth accessories. They will have to be completely isolated from the car including the cases. You will not know if the accessory has an earth to its case.It is very easy to set your car alight.
codgers like me may remember converting to negative earth.A popular fitment at the time was a two pin socket usually mounted on a chrome bracket for parking lights.Convert wiring, connect battery and the magic smoke erupted.Fit an alternator and convert the wiring,it is fairly easy.Steve..
