Evening. I have just bought the shell of an ex Police mini van, reg HUY995T that I intend to restore as a police look van.
I believe that the registration area was West Mercia, so assume it was with that force?
Does anyone have any pictures of blue and white mini vans to know what they looked like inside and out, I have googled it but there arent too many pictures really.
If anyone knows where I can find some details (or pictures, if they exist) of my van that would be helpful.
Thanks.

This Police Minivan below was restored by my brother and featured in the May 2014 issue of Miniworld.....the South Wales Police history only came to light when applying to DVLA for details of the previous owners.....and then the various holes found in the roof and dash areas matched up. Unfortunately the DVLA will no longer help with previous owner history under Data Protection rules...

(PM me your email if you want a pdf file copy of the May 2014 MW article).

Police car UK only knew of one other surviving Police Minivan at the time which was also featured in Miniworld a while back.

Police Car UK is the leading organisation in the preservation and restoration of classic Police vehicles in the United Kingdom:-

Thanks for your reply and for the info. Your brothers van looks great. Does he also have the original two way radio in it?
I tried to get in contact with the police car website a few weeks ago with no reply yet.
My van states blue/ white as the colouron the V5, and it also has an additional roof brace in it, I assume to hold the roof lights?

somehow a classic police car doesn't look right to me without the red line down the middle, for that classic jam sandwich look,  I guess that came later ?

Back in the day Police forces around the UK had different colours, etc on their vehicle fleets.

This Police Mini Van below has lines down the side but the photo is in black & white so not sure if they were red....

He bought the correct two way radio and 1970's Police Acorn Beacon off ebay I think and the Police Car website also helped confirm what would have been fitted and where to locate some items of original equipment.

The red stripe normally denoted traffic police

There's a police car registrar on the mini cooper register. Their information may only relate to the police coopers (e.g. Liverpool police force) but you never know.

I can't remember what the outside was like, but the inside was white.
