Can anyone recommend a decent make that won't break after 4 months!
My eBay tat gave up today when the shaft snapped and sent a 2" flap wheel, holder and shaft bouncing off the garage walls.

Shinano

If you are only using it for roloc discs then get a dedicated roloc sander like an SI2201 or SI2202. 90 degree die grinders are usually more expensive and with less power.

It's mainly for roloc discs but when the rough stuff is done it would be nice to fit a velcro pad and use sanding discs.

You will know when you have bought a good quality one.

Someone will steal it.

I have a cheap one that I got off ebay and it has been fine for years and years. As nick says Marchine Marts Clarke brand are usually pretty good.

I have used Machine Mart and eBay for mine all with no issues other than wear and tear.

Like any pneumatic tool they need oiling before use for longevity.

I also have a Snap on one and to be honest if it didn’t have the name on it that all look very similar.

Not sure if it was faulty or made from crap steel.

Just one of several i have had over the years, not a decent name brand  (Kobe) and i kicked the living daylights out of that particular one and the straight one as well.

Never seen a snapped shaft like that so must have been a flaw as that shows no sign of deterioration, just a clean break. very weird.

That would be just like using an angle grinder for fine sanding, a bad idea. They are a rotary movement at over 10,000 rpm.
