Amazing tip again Chris, I thought you must have been out for run when you went quiet on TMF.
The scale of things. It always amazes me. You'd have to drive up and down my island 30 times just to get to the starting point!

I have to admit, even though I 'live' with these huge distances, they aren't taken for granted by me !

Chris, I’ve just managed to eventually get time to sit down and read about your adventures in the Simpson desert. What an adventure. I’m so jealous. That is definitely the trip of a lifetime. I’m sure there was a serious amount of planning involved. Excellent read, thanks for sharing.
Cheers,
Martin.

Glad you enjoyed reading the story, Martin. We sure enjoyed doing it !
I did just read a few days ago, that this trip is now no longer possible - in any vehicle. The Hay Track that we took to do our South - North Crossing and give us an exit out of the Desert will be closed off next year, however the Desert itself was closed to the public a couple of days ago for the summer, so it's all over Red Rover, it does look like our Mokes will be the last to ever venture in to the Simpson Desert. There are a few other and more popular tracks through the Desert, however, the 4WDers towing trailers and those who don't let their tyres down have chopped these tracks up to the point that they are difficult in a well appointed 4WD that isn't towing and does have their tyres well down, let alone anything 2WD.
It also occurred to me that had Roger not broken his drive shaft, with how far I had to double back to help him effect the repairs, I wouldn't have run out of fuel !
Hopefully in the next few weeks I'll get up another of one of my 'trip of a life time' trips
