Is this the best water pump for my 1293 12g940 head pre A plus? The vanes look a bit subliminal compared to some I've seen on MS

I've had good results cooling wise with the minispares evo pump but the bearings didn't last long in it. Refitted my 30+ year old Unipart pump with cast impeller. Appears to work evey bit as well as the evolution pump and the bearings are still good. Recently picked up a NOS Unipart pump for my spares collection.

The only issue I have with the evo pump is the plastic impeller can spin on the shaft and the poor bearing service life (maybe belt tension too tight?)

John, I wouldn’t use that pump, the impeller is very poor. I use a ‘standard’ minispares pump making sure the impeller is a close fit to the housing, CAREFULLY  press it further on if there is a large tolerance. Suggest you read Calver’s technical notes on cooling on his website.

I run a ‘standard’ MS pump on my 1360 ( about 100 bhp) without problem .

The Minispares pumps have a 3 year warranty, if you get an issue please send them back so we can inspect and report any issues.

I've run Minispares EVO pumps on all my minis whenever I changed a water pump. I think I bought the first one right after their introduction.

I have them on 998 engines in the Moke and the Clubman Estate, both with bypass, and on the SPI Mini without bypass.

I can't remember since when I've run the first one but I've not experienced any problems so far with any of the pumps.

Just my thoughts here: from my experience there's always some rust and particles in the little pocket under the hole for the water pump in the block. It's like a natural collection place for that, I think. I'm always careful to clean that area completely and prevent the stuff from running through the engine to god knows where. That's why I always remove the water pump whenever the rad has to come out.

When a water pump is out, I suggest you change it no matter what. They are comparatively cheap and considering the hassle of removing the rad to get to it, I recommend to just change it to be on the safe side whenever it's easy to get to it.

Yes, I can't remember where I got that one, but I didn't like the look of it so will scrap it.

I've been running a Mini Spares EVO Pump for a few years now, off hand it would have done about 25 000 - 30 000 km without issue.
