Let's go!

Now for the first drive!

I know it's not a real funky ride to see and I'm out of sight most of the time but when it's completely done I will make more exiting clips, I promise!

After the first ride it was finally time to light my Cuban!

Hi Rene,

Sounds sweet! I bet you didn't sleep at all the night after  I'm prepairing the car and trailer to go to Chris tomorrow, the boat is leaving at six tomorrow night. So the first drive video (or Dyno) will be on next weekend when we return.

cheers.

The bodykit was on it when I bought the kit..... I've heard it can be a real pain in the a** to fit. I wouldn't know.....

Personal advise...... If you are making (or planning to) a ZCar, I would leave the kit off. My car is really rediculously low. I have to drive out the street by one way, the onther way is blocked by a speed bump of 10cm high..... Damn!
But that's up to you......

I fully agree with rene here!!! The z-max kit is a pain to fit. The z-max kits are expensive but they (normally) fit quite well. The advise is to fit it and spay the car again for a clean look ($$$). Watch out for fake kits, they are "one size fits all" except minis!

It's been a long time but I've done my share on the mini!

I hate my clutch.... That's for sure. I wasted 3 cable on it (probably due to my trust in crappy lines.... )
I ordered a proper one tonight and hope for the best next time. Will be a week delay. GGGggggrrrrrr!!!

For the time being I wasted my time in the back yard. I painted the bonnet, bootlid and the doors. Result is acceptable.

Here are some pictures! I hope you like!

Hi,

the cable I ordered didn't work also. I tried one more time with another cable but no result, again. In the end I even bended my pushing it so hard....! then I was fed up and I took it all out and ordered myself a new mini master cilinder and a Wilwood slave cilinder. All I have to do now is wait for the cable and connections and make myself a new bracket for the slave cilinder.....

This time it better work!

In the mean time I began sanding the car. At guy from down my street helped me tonight. We got a long way but we are not there yet.....

Its a shame the cable didnt work, lets hope the slave does.

Good to see you moving forward in other areas, do you have a final colour that you are aiming for?

Quick update...

I replaced the cable cluch with the hydrolic. Works perfect! It's as smooth as silk now.

Drove it up and down the street a couple of times now and I'm very happy with it. I also found the problem I had with the engine not running constandly steady when hot... It turned out to be a leaking PCV valve.

Here are some pictures of my final oil catch can installation....

Rene, looking good.

Tell me, do you have anything inside your catch can to help with collecting the blow by gases, like stainless steel wool or chain? When I was looking into my design for a catch tank one thing that kept coming up was the need to add surface area within the catch tank to improve its efficiency. Just a thought......

Any ideas on a completion date or are you going into the winter heading for next year now?

Keep up the good work.

P.S. for those that didnt know, PCV stands for Positive Crankcase Ventilation.

The tubes entering the catch can are bend downwards so that the oil residue is forced downwards first. I havent filled it up with anything but I know some who did fill the can with steel wool. The disadvantage of that is that it acts as a filter that can get clogged and wont let the gasses thrue anymore and you dont want to have that. (specially when driving a forced induction engine Captain.....) I would use baffles to make the path of the gasses longer.... That way the oil residue has more time to settle down....

Hoping to have some time to finish the car next month. Still aiming for this year but dont use deadlines anymore... We'll see....

Thanks for the heads up!
