Made a start on welding the new repair panels on,
Butt welded the new panel onto the old panel where it wasn’t rust and then plug welded all the way down the L/H side of the panel to join the two panels together as I don’t have access to a spot welder.
Started to grind down the welds so it’s smooth.
Safe to say it isn’t going anywhere 👌🏽
Just got to make a piece to fill the gap in, then do the scuttle repair 👌🏽
Don’t think I’m doing too bad to say I’d only welded once before and it was about 8 year ago 😆🤦‍♂️

Well it’s been a while since I posted. Basically because I’ve not touched the car, but had a good afternoon of welding today so got a couple panels on.
Just need to grind the welds down.
Probably going to get the car prepped for paint after this and get it fully painted. Not sure of the colour just yet though.

Very excited to see the progress on this. This engine has arguably the best exhaust note on a stock car in my opinion and I would love to see it powering a mini.

Thankyou! Just got an A Panel to fit, and then im going to make a start on modifying the subframe to hold the Abarth Engine.  :highfive:

Plenty has been happening since last time.

Engine and subframe has been sent down to RCL Frames. Suprised to find out that the engine fits with no modifications required with regards to suspension/ geometry.

Standard tie rods etc all fit with no issues! Turbo needs relocating though...

Also bought a new steering rack, the old one is old and i like new shiny parts :D

Some adjustable suspension components also bought for when i get the subframe back, to fit.

Currently still on with sorting the front panels out on the car as i seem to find more and more rust the deeper i look (but its not too bad).

That is quite a big engine, But I don't think you'll ever fit a Mini into it.

We've already proved it fits, just needs the turbo relocating and a few other bits :)

I've also been preparing the new windscreen scuttle as the old one was full of filler and had been bodged in the past.

Slowly getting there...
