Alloy Rocker Cover T Bolts Not Long Enough ?

Best Answer DeadSquare , 05 June 2023 - 09:59 AM

It would be easier to extend the rocker studs by cutting the top off your BMC "T bolts" to make a connector.

Clean them really well, and the top of the rocker studs and Lock-tite them.  Do the same with a 5/16" UNF setscrew and cut off the head. Provided that you measure several times before cutting, your extended stud will engage the "too short" T bolts.

Bought a second hand alloy rocker cover quite a few years ago - just tried to fit it but the T bolts aren't long enough ? can you get longer T bolts ? I notice that the rocker cover does not have recesses in the top where the bolts would go ?

any idea what rocker cover I have and what bolts I can use to fit it ? Its currently missing the spacer on each bolt and I had to cut down the rubber - rocker cover gasket not leaking at the mo but for how long ? !Attached File  IMG_5558a.jpg   76.09K   3 downloads

Have dry runs without Lock-tite.

The first thing that I do in these sorts of circumstances, is to reach for the plasticine.  Fix a lump around and above the stud and test to see how far your T bolt is from where you wish it should be.  If there is less than 1/4" you might have to reduce the height of the studs, or pack the T bolt with washers. (or both)
