decided to fit this MK 1 shroud instead of the newer one that is as big as a suitcase!   obviously can't use the existing welded on brackets, so anyone got any ideas?    they only have two holes in the plastic shroud both centerline, so hopefully want to utilise these two holes if i can.       Ooops only have the one indicator stalk on passengers side so should look sweet when  it is done.

Hi!

Many people will quite rightly argue the somewhat only or at least only feasible way would be to simply be fitting the older type steering column.

Having said that I have gone down the other route and made adapting brackets to use one of the welded on brackets with the top/bottom mounting holes in the early cowling.

Just the one won't hold it, and there is no space to do anything with the one near the parcel shelf, so have designed an outer bracket there to hold things together. The lower welded tab can be folded back, so might be reusable if I want to go back original.

Designing this has been an opportunity to learn CAD, so did not worry about the time and effort. As the parts are printed there also could be a longevity issue, but for the moment I am happy with it on my van. It's probably easier for most to go old column instead ;)

The way the inner part attaches and creates two mounting points ..

Outside clamp plus brackets (material is a CF filament)

The finished article.

If you wanted to go this rather complex route - I can share files somewhere. Just as a cautionary warning: the print and finishing (it needs thread inserts) isn't the easiest.

Best regards,
Jan
