Just picked this up sight unseen.
it has been opened up and had work done as the rods have been stamped. Turns over but has much rust.

No plan. Just going to strip it so we can see what is inside as we so rarely see them in the UK. Or they are spoken about in hushed tones.

That's a A+ block isn't it? Same oil filter as the Marina/Ital inline engine ..
No strengthening ribs and the mounting for the generator is in the old position for a dynamo. The oil filter position is about the same as the marina and the Mpi minis.

With an 11 stud 1300cc head. That's a real bitza...
edit - that's a SA 1071cc S style crank. Makes a bit more sense.

How come the SA stuff is so different to UK stuff.
I thought it would have made sense to standardise all bits no matter where they were going to be used.
These were not made in the UK. Their Minis were also quite different. Their MK3 had a hornet/elf back end. And there were others that had the elf/hornet front but the Mini rear.

Yep basically a 1071s motor. Though I think the head was made 11 stud later on.
loads of rust but it dose turn easily.
