The guy I use charges around £100.00 but he double flows it to make sure no media is left behind, you may get it cheaper.

Thanks for the info. What is meant by double flowing?
He shuts the media off just leaving the high pressure water to remove any media that may be left behind, as others have said, if this isn't done you can have problems.

I had my blaster do the same after the cases were vapour blasted. Still found loads of it in threads and narrow areas of the case. Took a day of cleaning before I was satisfied I'd got it all. Soda blasting, you just dip it into hot water or a light acid and it dissolves.

If I'm honest I'm not sure what media he uses, I go there from a recommendation for a local company that specialises in classic Ferrari engine rebuilds, I worked on the idea that if he's good enough for them, then that will do me.

Well, an afternoon with petrol, the dremmel and around 20 wire wheels saw the side cases cleaned up nicely. A lick of alloy wheel silver spray and the job will be sorted.
As for the gearbox case, I think Ill take it to the garage and jet wash it and see how that pans out. Maybe a bit of dremmel work after the jet wash👍

I recently had a gearbox casing vapour blasted, no sign of media in any thread/nook/void. They specialise in engine casings so like Shooter, I trust that they know how to clean a part post-blast. That doesn’t mean I won’t check every part, it means I’m not afraid of the process causing a problem.

A carjet wash will work well especially if it has a shampoo setting, if you can find some one with a steam cleaner they work really well as the heat from the steam sweats the oil out making painting real easy.
