How big can the crack be in fly wheel housing first motion shaft?
Loud bang when tightening bolts.
I put a bit (more than a lick) of grease on shaft to aid assembly.
All seemed good until I pulled the housing up with nuts.
Is the oil pressure enough to force a leak?
Can it be welded ?

Now I’ve given it a wipe over with a rag it looks bad.
Just a simple job!!!
Feels expensive and a delay.
Had it vapour blasted £40 down the drain.
Anyone want a part finished project?

I don’t think the pins are meant to 2 part??
Why did I want to have a nice looking engine?

Oh dear,,,,,,

It's always a good idea to rotate these shafts as the cover goes on, that aids the rollers of the outrigger bearing seat and not catch on the out race.

It could be repaired, it will need welding and machining but a replacement would be much cheaper.

That's the idler gear bearing housing not the input shaft bearing.
Did the idler gear shaft fit into the bearing ok?
I've had modern Chinese pre a+ idler bearings which appeared tapered.
The shaft would go in about 1/2 way and then bind.

The bearing was already in there. It’s my fault for thinking it was close enough to home before winding in the bolts.

I noticed that a guy had three housings on ebay, about 10 days ago, but I didn't study price or location.
