I watched a video on replacing the ring gear on the flywheel a while back. Should the flywheel be rebalanced after the ring gear is replaced?

When I do mine, the flywheel is in for other work which includes balancing, so all mine are rebalanced anyway. The point is the factory balance is pretty poor in most cases, so having it balanced anyway will make the engine run smooother.

Being as the ring gear bows the flywheel when fitted, and change in the fit can cause a change in shape, so technically yes. However in practice it will work without balancing.

Thanks AC.
My engine was built by Swiftune many moons ago. So i was wondering if the flywheel was rebalanced would it also need to be balanced against the crank, as it was when it was first built?
I realise that is a bit over the top but i was wondering from a engineering point of view, what the answer would be?

Why do you wish to change the flywheel?

What horse power and other mods are you doing?
Why do you wish to change the flywheel?
Just to go from an interia to a pre-engaged starter motor.
Around 100BHP
