I am rebuilding a mini that I didn’t take apart so am unsure on certain wires. I have the new loom from mini spares (ham3684). I have a non ballast coil.

 

Am I right in thinking that this loom has the wires in it for both ballast and non ballast coils?

 

Also can anyone confirm where these wires go that are at the front around the grill?

2 white/black wires that are together?

1 single white and black?

1 white wire 

1 pink wire ( for ballast coil?)

purple wire on it’s own (horn?)

 

what does the red and black wire on the distributor connect to?

basically what colour are the wires and where do they connect on the coil and distributor?

You should grab yourself a Haynes manual, all the wiring diagrams are in the back of the book.

 

If you're rebuilding a car you didn't take a part, the Haynes plus Mini Spares'/Somefords' exploded diagrams are going to be invaluable on your journey.

2 white/black wires that are together?  To Coil -

 

1 single white and black?                       To distributor with points

 

1 white wire                                           Check if there is a yellow strip on the white .To Coil +

 

1 pink wire ( for ballast coil?)                 To Ballast coil +

 

purple wire on it’s own (horn?)                Horn

 

The Red and Black from the dizzy go to + and - on coil ,leave single white/black wire disconnected.
