I've edited the post to make it clearer which part was in response to which item of discussion, hopefully that helps understanding

To clarify, any previous incidents I've been involved in are long in the past and have nothing to do with this thread it was just a show of empathy nothing more

I had a modern style Led strip mounted with 2 screws for quite a while, certainly didn't look the best but didn't stand out like a sore thumb, but would rather have that than not be seen. I then designed my own that I 3d printed and used a red lucas lens and made a 40 LED array to go inside, so looks a lot more retro. I don't notice any reflection on the rear screen (or from the strip one I had) and haven't had any issues with the 3D printed parts warping. 1st photo of the modern strip one and the rest of the homemade one.

I used a rain light (https://racetechdesi...cts/rain-light/), obtainable from stores like Demon Tweeks. I preferred the round design vs the horizontal design in most modern cars. Also I mounted it on the rear parcel shelf, which is obviously lower than the location others mount it. The point is that the current lamp design is different from mine. I was able to saw the enclosure diagonally to fit the rear screen, but the new design doesn't allow this. Maybe it can be overcome by putting it inside a PVC pipe of the right diameter and modifying that?

that does look good for that age and style of car I have to say, mine is the later square style rear light clusters so slightly different in that respect

what filament did you use for that 3d print, I've mostly used PLA and that definitely has heat issues, been meaning to try out another type, ABS maybe
