i think the problem with most big vans is they are still quite narrow between their wheel arches

I just spoke to a guy about a van on autotrader and he suggested firring a winch on the back of tha cab and a platform over the top of the wheel arches and putting it above the arches.

this would be very top heavy though!!!

look at the transit transporter in my 1st post. That is ideal for transporting a mini. You could probally find one in a crewcab style with a shorter body for the mini, that way you have the full 5/6 seats available and transport for the mini.

Dont know if its any help but i have seen talbot express vans converted to catering vans that will easily take a mini and you would be able to open a door to get out. They sometimes have 2 axles at the rear, aswell as being quite low

Well, you're hardly going to be turning up to compete in a rally by yourself. I'm sure one of your service crew or co-driver could drive a car pulling a trailer?

I cant remember what vans they were, but a number of the mighty mini guys turned up at castle coombe (mini world action day) with minis in the back of vans, just winched in and out. I dont have any pics im afraid.

YOu keep saying the other vehicle is going to be your daily driver. You must take into consideration the time you will be spending doing rallies and the cost in fuel of driving a big van the other days.

yep i've had mine in my van a few times, it needs to go above the wheel arch but it does fit! most common van used is the sprinter because it's slightly wider andlonger in the luggage area.... but ford have sorted that with a new transit.......

I used to compete against someone who did take his mini racer arount in a transit - had to take the mini's wheel arches off to get it in and instead of wheels he made up some very narrow tempory wheels out of wood to clear the wheel arches.... it was that tight , but it can be done.
and he managed to make a bed that fitted above the front of the min as well!
