I’ve got some original 1275 gt/mini25/Mayfair wheel trims, witch being near 40 year old plastic have cracked in various places. I’ve managed to repair the cracks by plastic welding and filling, but this now means I need replicate the original textured finish of the plastic before painting silver, as per the picture (one on my own 25)

I thought I’d found something made by rust-oleum but upon further investigation it’s only suitable for interior use, as once dry if it gets wet it peels off.

It’s no great loss is it doesn’t work, as I have plenty of spares, but it’s only a matter of time before those too crack with age.

Look for  plastic textured bumper paints you can get various colours plus you can always add the texture you want as they come in different grades from very course to very fine then use a silver top coat  .
