Hi everyone , just wondered if anyone knew the widest 12ish wheel (plus offset) that will fit under a late 1275gt wheel arch without needing to be cut or have plastic or fibreglass arch extensions fitted. I’d preferably like a set of minilites or something as I’m not a fan of steel wheels

If you are not running at standard ride height you will need to cut whatever. And the standard ride height is higher than many think.

Seen for sale on this years London to Brighton Run @ £20k

Alternative is to convert to the earlier S/GT front disc brakes and then fit 10" Minilites without arches. Easy to convert back if you ever want to return to original factory spec.

a 5J rim with ET40 - ET45 offset (..and 165 tyres..) would be about the widest you might be able to get away with without having to fit wheel arches.  The wider the wheel/greater the offset the more likely you are to have issues with the rear tyres fouling on the shock absorbers though (especially if/when using the fatter type shocks (protech, spax etc))

for reference, and using 10" rims that don't require arches as examples;  4.5J S rims have ET36 offset and 4.75J Rose petals have ET40 offset

Standard 12" x 4.5J ET35 fit nicely. I went to 5.5J Ultralites with 165/70/12 tyres and the wheels caught the front of the arch. I raised the front to standard and they cleared so that's where they are now.

I have 5J x 12 rims ET 30 Ultralite alloys with 165 tyres, which fit nicely under the arches and have no problems on full steering lock, when I purchased the Mini it had 5.5J wheels which required Mini special arches.
