[Straker Junior]

I am looking for some advice on 10 inch rim width and offset.

I have a clubman which is at bare shell stage ready for painting. Subframes are built up with 7.5” discs on the front and spaced drums on the rear.

The car will be un arched with chrome edging like the attached picture.
I am aiming for the same look with the rims filling the arches nicely.

Would anyone have any idea whether these are 5 x 10’s and what offset I should aim for please?

Would 6” be too wide for an un arched car?

ps I guess the tyre also impacts the overall look too so advice welcome here too

You can just squeeze a 5” or 5.5” wheel with a bit of camber and the right offset

The car in your picture looks to me like Minispares 4.5” minilife ST wheels. I’ve got a set on my mini and they are the perfect fit without arch extensions when you’ve got 7.5” discs and spacer drums

But many just about get away with 5 x 10 with S offset.

The 1275GT Rostyle steel wheel was 4.5 x 10 and was quite 'borderline' for a standard production car on the need for arches on S 7.5" discs with 145 or 165 tyres.

6 x 10 will require arches, size of arch required will depend on offset.

 

Minispares sell replica "1960's original tech Del Minilite copy" made in LM25 alloy. They advertise them as looking closer to the original 1960's Minilite than the modern genuine Minilites but call their replicas 'Minilife.' A few years back I think Minispares were involved in the Minilite Tech-Del company rescue from administration so also sell the genuine 'modern version' of the Minilite by Tech-Del and I believe they own or have an interest in the company today.

What Minispares is trying to say is that their wheel is the only “1960’s style” wheel

The ones currently made by minilite aren’t true to the original 1960’s style.

My Minispares wheels are 12 years old and still look fantastic & they still use the same wheel nuts and caps today on their new wheels. That can’t be said for all mini wheels available today

if you want a 5" rim you should be looking for an offset of around ET+40

I've just done the same with my restored 66 SDL. Fitted 7.5 discs on the front and spacered drums on the rear. Minimum offset required for no arches is ET35. That's for 4.5J. Don't think 5J will work with your similar setup. I've ended up with Rosepetal wheels, 4.75J, which at ET40 are perfect but have had to use the thin supplied spacers on the front due to wheel rim catching on caliper.

Other than the Rosepetals the only other option was to find 'S' wheels which had ET35, but those were 4.5J.
