Im wanting to improve my boot interior. Ive seen that there are a number of kits available of varying quality as a ready made solution, but I dont want to reduce the space which all the extra panels seem to do.

I was thinking of just a floor panel nicely trimmed with maybe a cutout for the battery (I don't have a spare wheel). I may even just make a roundish panel to fit in the wheel well perhaps with a small selection of essential tools afixed to the underside.

However as this idea is in its genesis, I thought I'd see what everyone else has done as there doesn't seem to be as many threads as there is on say engine bays or dashboards.

Thanks

Ben

Make (or buy below) a plywood boot board covered in carpet as was fitted to earlier Minis and Coopers.

It can be mounted using the original type brackets below which can be pop riveted in position.

BOOT BOARD BRACKETS FOR 7.5 GALLON TANK 165 TYRES

This kit contains all the floor brackets and mounts required for fitting Minis with 7.5 gallon tank 10/12" wheels or with 165 profile tyres.

http://www.minispare...ic/CCC115C.aspx

The boot board bracket 14A9783 is not included

For 10" wheels with 145 tyres and 5.5 gallon tank see CCC115 or CCC115A

For use with boot boards CCC110, CCC111 and CCC112. CCC115 original 5.5 gallon tank to 1974 with 10" wheels upto 145 tyres

CCC115A for 165 tyres with 5.5 tank

CCC115B for 145 tyres and 7.5 tank

CCC115C for 165 tyres and 7.5 tank

I bought the kit from MiniSpares and it fits perfectly and adorns the boot nicely but, if a person has some woodworking skills, you could save some money and do it yourself. With some 3/8” plywood, some stereo box fabric, and a staple gun you’d be sorted. Make a template out of cardboard to get it perfect.

The boot board is the way to go, but I intend to also put down that 4way stretch carpet the put in campers to make it a bit nicer and cleaner.

So I had a go at making something. The underside of the board will house a few tools. If I get a puncture I'll call the AA if tyre foam doesn't work...

Cheers

I bought a boot board fitting kit from Mini Spares then cut my own board and covered it in acoustic carpet. I also covered the inside of the rear seat back, inner wheel arch and quarter panel.

It looked really clean although I’d probably add a courtesy light if I did it again as all the black really sucks up the light especially in photos.

These look nice. Good work guys!

I always recommend looking at the Japanese mini-scene for different styling, they have so much that we don't! There are wooden-slat boot boards that fold out into little tables supported on the bootlid and stuff like that.

Hi all, great stuff. I currently have a totally bare boot on the 79 saloon I've acquired and am looking to smarten it up a bit. I'd looked online for ready-made templates for a boot lid liner/board but couldn't find any. Moss and minispaares supply them but I have space in a massive wood warehouse with all the tooling and wanted the "challenge" and satisfaction of doing it myself. Hell, I could even make them out of teak and polish them! But.., I'm useless at measuring and making templates. Just not part of my "skillset" unfortunately. I'd imagined that it would have been a resource that would have been kicking about for decades as all the boots are pretty much same measurements? (with obvious exceptions) Anybody happen to have a printable diagram/template or a link to one?  by the way the cardboard dash"panels" need replacing too.Been bent beyond use after 43 years...
