Utube is a boon when you have stripped a car 18months ago and then have to remeber how to reassemble.

Doors gone together quite easily with brand new rubbers which i made sure were snugly fitted ( with the aid of silican spray) all the way around.

However both windows are very tight when winding up and down.. Is this usual with new rubbers?  Glass is defineitely in the groves and goes up horizontally but  is juddery and tight.

Another little problem is that on stripping i made sure i kept all the fixings in a separate box for eack side. I am left with a little black clip that looks like it clips onto the door metal and somethinh like the lock arm slides through it. Dont know how to load photos so cannot explain ant further. Where does it go please.?

Have you greased the window rails?

Did you get the regulators (mechamisms) on the right sides?

Try using your old rubbers if you still have them.

I've heard of this problem, the new rubbers are too thick in places.

Old rubbers had rotted.Yes winders are on correct side as i was very careful to segregate and record all parts. Not only are the runners greased but also the gears have been well geased and checked for free movement before being refitted. I have even sprayed in the groove of the rubber with silicon spray.

Hopefully when fitted and used a bit they will loosen off

Todays rubber is a lot harder than it was when these cars were built. And doesn't seem to last as long .. I've had new balljoints rip open after a few weeks (not a Mini by the way).

Let them bed in for a couple of months before you start ripping them apart

I think viz is right. I trimmed some rubber off. Still stiff though, but can open them now!

I have the same problem except with original to car rubber and glass. I thought I had fixed it 6 months back but this last weekend it is back to sticking and juddering. Last time I used silicone spray and they worked great but I think the silicone must dissipate then back to square one. I am still thinking about how to fix it though.

I am having this very problem after fitting new rubbers in my rear pop out windows. The glasses bend so much when trying to close them that I still have them open...

had this same issue on front windows using new rubbers, the window channel (felt section) has a raised lump in it whereas the original ones are flat. tried eveything and even knackered a regulator it was so tight. eventually got some rubbers from phoenix supplies and the section was flat, fitted these and window sorted. this same problem keeps comming up, did post pictures on here a while ago showing problem

I am having the same problem, I have fitted new windows and rubbers and have checked that everything is fitted correctly, I have greased the rubbers and still both windows are hard to wind both up and down. I measured the new windows against the old and they are the same size although the new windows are marginally thicker.

I am going to try the pheonix rubbers to see if this helps?

Any recommendations for the best grease/lubricant to use on the rubbers?

Tried the Pheonix Supplies window rubber and Halfords silicone lubricant and it all works perfectly, will fit the passenger side when the weather allows.
