I have SPI seats in my MPI and the rear upright section of seat does not sit all the way home to the parcel shelf at both corners.

There are what appears to be strengthening sections from the C Posts to the parcel shelf which is stopping the seats fitting flush. Are MPI rear upright seat backs slightly narrower than other mini seats

Does your MPI has burr walnut covers all around the car (right under the windows)?

If so, you need to remove at least on one side to fit the back of the seat (I made the mistake the other day when I wanted to remove my back seat…)

Recently sold a mpi back seat funnily enough.

I've recently purchased an MPI interior to replace my equivalent SPI interior and I noticed the MPI rear seat back has cut outs on the ends presumably for the rear parcel shelf mounted seat belt retractors.

Could this be the cause of the poorly fitting seat back?

I fitted MPi rear seat - back and base to 85 car - it fits fine - no obvious difference. On an MPi the rear seat belt retractors are in the side bins - added these to our earlier car by welding in the bracket in the bin.

I have exactly the same problem,.

Bodies from 1996 (some of the last SPIs and all MPIs) have strengthening on the c pillars.

This stops standard SPI back seat from fitting.

You will need to modify the frame of the back seat or purchase an MPI back seat.

I think i will have to modify my frame as MPI rear seats are rare over here and expensive!!!

Going to try and modify the rear seat frame ready for this year.

Has anybody got a picture that shows how a MPI rear seat frame looks, at the c pillars, like the picture above????

PLEASE

I have a back seat I can take a picture of tomorrow evening, but it's not just a frame... It has the foam and cloth on it.

Would that help?

Yeah that would be great - Try and get a close up of the corners at the top where they curve showing as much of the frame as possible
