"Mini 1500GT is the official home for the 2022 attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest number of Mini cars in parade.
Named The Mini 1500GT the event has to be limited to just 1500 cars to comply with logistical restraints.
The aim is to beat the existing record of 1451 set in 2009 by the London2Brighton that year.
If you own a Mini, Sunday 4th September at The Motorist in Sherburn In Elmet, North Yorkshire."

I agree....restricting to facebook won't help their efforts to break the record. ( I don't do facebook either)

They responded - The organiser of the group has postponed to next year now.
(my guess not enough people interested as they only advertised on facebook)
I'm sure we could beat that record with all members on here..

Well, I think it's depend on how you define "on the road".
As far as I'm aware, there was 1.400 Minis in L2B this year and about 2.200 in 2019 - yes not all classics, but the majority.
And if you ask the DVLA, there still about 25.000 classical Minis registered and 50.000 SORN*
But after L2B 2019 I took a two weeks detour around Scotland and in this two weeks, I only saw 1 (in words: one) other classic Mini on the road - and that had an Nissan engine...
*Still struggle to understand SORN completely: is this, You own the Mini but its not registered? So in very simplified theory there are only 3 types of cars in the UK: Registered and on the road - SORN and in the garage / backyard - scraped and destroyed?

SORN means (Statutory Off Road Notification) when you take a vehicle 'off the road' and you want to stop taxing and insuring it. Your vehicle is off the road if you do not keep or use it on a public road, for example if it's in a garage, on a drive or on private land.
However SORN no longer needs annual renewal so if you break up or scrap the car yourself while on sorn and put the V5c document away in a drawer, the car no longer exists but will show as SORN forever unless you decide to bother to declare it scrapped. Likewise thousands of Minis that no longer exist (and before SORN rules came in) but were never 'officially' scrapped remain on the DVLA database usually showing as untaxed for many years.....a few of these may eventually turn up as barn finds or resurrected from an old now 'valuable' logbook. eg. Mini Cooper S, 1275GT, etc.
