something else to consider may be what size pulley you have on the water pump; reducing the pulley size will increase the volume of water being pumped at idle (...but may end up causing cavitation issues at higher revs)

I can't find it at the moment but there is a video on the Minispares EVO waterpump,it shows it running at 10,000 revs spindle speed with no cavitation! I fitted a smaller pulley but removed it, it was spinning the fan far too fast at high revs (just when you don't need it) sapping power and creating noise. From personal experience I still think the answer is correct anti freeze ratio, a correctly fitted auxiliary inner wing electric fan with the evo waterpump and competition radiator.

I’ve had evo pumps fail before and wouldn’t recommend. Run med one now, and have a couple of genuine unipart ones on shelf.

to be honest thermex / radtec rad, coolant with water wetter, larger type pulley , standard plastic fan and electric fan on inner wing should be fine in traffic, along with 73 stat. Found having an oil cooler helps in traffic

I did an experiment years ago with the water wetter to prove to myself it worked.

I rigged my engine up with thermocouples and a data logger and ran straight water and then water with water wetter. I can’t remember the difference but it reduced the temperature enough that I’ve used it ever since.

My engine is a 1700 ford block on a mini gearbox so I don’t have room for a side mount radiator.

I run an MPI front mount (copper) rad with electric fan.

I have a side mounted electric fan drawing the hot air away from the engine bay.

And I also run an electric water pump with controller.

This still wasn’t enough when stationary so I added an additional heater matrix to where the fresh air went normally comes through the inner wing with another electric fan and an electric booster pump in the heater circuit now going through two cores.

Then the last thing was to make a front grill that somewhat looks like a mini grill but has water running through it as an extra radiator.

Now I have no issues.

I know it's not exactly the same but might give you some ideas.
