When I got the car it didn't have a spare , so I went and got a matching wheel and tyre and being a bit of a tight old git, I feel the need to use the wheel even if it's only for a spare....! why are the boots of minis so small ? Oh I think I've answered my own question , the clue is mini ,thanks everyone for your help and suggestions.

In fairness I would tend to agree on this, I much prefer it when my car has a matching full size spare that you can swap over to

yes it can be just a 'get-you-home' but it's easier to just change it once, then go to the tyre place, get the duff one sorted and just put it in the boot ready for next time

on that note and reading this yesterday I have been thinking about tubbing out my spare wheel hole a bit deeper, while it's still a bare chassis, has anyone ever done that and how much extra space is there.. I'll have to get under and have a look

As per Cal844 can confirm that a 165/60/12 on a 4.5 Rover Minilite does fit as long as you lower the tyre pressure...have one sat in my boot.

Whilst far from ideal having a tyre at 26psi compared to the rest at 30psi, however as a get me home it works fine.
