General impression? would likely do the same color as the car now, but would help protect paint for future use.

Thoughts? Otherwise, I believe I may need a full respray in the near-ish future.

Any rust at all on the car and it will show up like a sore thumb.

Remember a mini always rusts from the inside out. So in other words, don’t waste your money on a wrap. Spend it wisely on dealing with the bodywork and then a good quality paint job.

It’s not necessarily rust though. Just paint fade.

This has come up a few times as a cheap alternative to resolving paint issues.

I’m certainly no expert in paint work but have you looked at giving it a decent machine polish to see if it’s the clear coat / lacquer?

The issue with a wrap is less that rust will show as bumps under it (which it will) but that you are effectively sealing moisture underneath which will exacerbate impending rusting and likely mean you won’t spot it early enough to address before it becomes serious.

Personal preference of course but would be a last resort in my opinion.

Professional wrapping is actually quite expensive. And DIY is often more frustrating and wasted time/money than you'd think to get an acceptable finish.

I wrapped my roof in black and if was a total nightmare.. ended up ripping it off as it never looked good.

Wrap has its place if you want a custom print or some advertising, but paint will look better and probably not be an arm and leg more expensive

Get wrapped cars in all the time at work, finish is generally poor, and dont think about washing them without damage. Generally.. avoid.
