Hi gents ,

 

I'm not at all an Austin Mini expert .

I've actually a MINI-BMW 2005 JCW and I'm seeking for a "true" mini .

I've identified in the small adds a '97 Mini with the MPI engine . 

I would like to know if it is possible to use the E85 in this engine and if yes which mods. are necessary .

 

For the few I know about it , seems the MPI ECU cannot be re-programmed to adapt the injections parameters to the E85 .

Is it true ? 

 

Cars manufactured since 2000 ( Euro 3 norm ) are designed to accept the E85 in the gasoline circuit ( tank , hoses , ... ) .

The MPI engines have been designed ( and sold ) before 2000. Is there something to change to be E85 compatible ?

They aren't compatible.

E85 will need much bigger injectors and a new ECU to control them(other things as well)the resistance of the tank and hoses etc is academic.Bad luck,Steve..

Too bad , 'cause at the price where is sold the E85 in France .... 

 

( At least such issue does not exist with the MINI BMW )
