It seems that my front wheels get quite dirty quickly. I do not hear any noise when braking. what may cause this, and possible solutions? Is it worth it for a new 8.4" slotted/vented discs? I'm a beginner with brakes, so does there 4 pot set up achieve better performance?

It’s down to the brake pad compound. Some make more dust than others

Vented discs will make no difference.

If the brake performance is satisfactory, there are no obvious signs of overheating due to brake drag and you are not driving it like you stole it, brake pad compound may be the cause. There are so many spurious makers of braking material available, some pads appear to be made from recycled camel dung , so if you are concerned about this "problem" change the pads for a set from reputable suppliers with recognisable makes.

If you can find them, NOS Ferodo pads 2426F, are very good. Also have had good luck with EBC Red Stuff, DP3102C.

I just ordered some EBC Green Stuff pads.

will give the calipers and discs a good clean as well. Flush the lines, and off I go for summer fun.

Green stuff have a poor reputation.

Honestly, just clean your wheels.

I use this stuff on the main car, I have heavy right foot and regularly blackened front wheels (brembo pads fwiw)

https://www.amazon.c...0?ie=UTF8&psc=1

spray on at close range to get it foaming up, wait a few mins, hose off just at low pressure no jet wash rqd.  repeat if necessary.

was getting fed up with being down on knees scrubbing 10 spoke alloys.   wheels never looked so clean

(check if your wheels have any particular aversion to acidity / test small area first if unsure.  it says "ACID FREE" but one prominent review begs to differ)

EBC Green stuff pads are not the best for normal road going. They are a good pad for spirited driving and come into their own when warmed up.

I have EBC green stuff on mine (7.5” discs) and they are super dusty, it’s noticeable after one drive

Green stuff have a poor reputation.

Under normal drive conditions, I didn’t care for them. Replaced them with some NOS Ferodo pads=happy face under hard use and normal usage.

I installed 4-pot 8.4" calipers with EBC green stuff.  The bit is good and firm.

But lots of dust after 150 miles.  Ugh

I will try Ultimax street pads next.
