Are anti-roll bars a good idea for a fast road Mini?

I remember seeing a video where the rear anti-roll bar was said to be good for dialling out understeer and also allowing a softer damper setting without compromising cornering

Aren't both front and rear anti-roll bars overkill for a non-track car?

Pointless for a road car and for most track cars.

yes it is used to dial out under steer. But that does not say how. The how is to add oversteer.

ARBs are the very last thing you should add and then after you have optimized everything else.

As Nick says, it's a last ditch attempt to fine tune the handling. An anti roll bar reduces grip at the axle it's fitted to and makes independent suspension less independent.

Thanks Nick, I thought that was the case from a previous posting i had read but couldn't find.

I found the video though, it was on YouTube by MED.

A rear ARB might seem fine on a road car, but see what happens when you are cornering fairly hard with power on and slight understeer and have to lift off suddenly. Rotate!
