Hi folks,

Dusted off the mini for an mot today, drove it up and down the road absolutely fine after having refurbed all the suspension components and regressed pot joints, replaced cv joints, bearings, ball joints, the lot.

I was reversing into my drive on full lock to turn around to drive to the MOT centre and suddenly lost all drive to be replaced with a low grinding noise.  In each gear the pitch gets higher as though the revolutions have been increased but nothing is engaged, any ideas please??

I’m imagining this is an engine out and gearbox off job?!

Many thanks in advance!!!

At a guess it could be drop gears......  just on the off chance .......you haven't popped your driveshaft (  (full lock over a bump?)

I’ve just attached a video of the noise, both pot joints appear to be still in the diff and drive shafts look to in the right place...

I’ve just taken some video from the each side front of the car, the passenger side drive shaft is spinning when the grinding occurs, the drivers side is not, this would appear to indeed be a popped drive shaft or something like that... further investigations required...

Hi JamesAlexander............ out of most of the possible failures, this one is a `good result'.... i am glad it seems to be a relatively easy and inexpensive fix for you.
