
How Much Time And Money

How long is this piece of string?If you are a gifted engineer with alloy tig skills,lathe,mill,quality materials laid in the bench could be a few weeks.
If you are still reading everything about the subject looking at some ill fitting rusty spanners then it could take much longer.
Guess there is no easy answer but I suspect DIY will make a kit look good value.Inveterate bodger and old school modifier and I still dream of boost without any inroads made into fitting it.I bought a different car and spoiled it with a bigger engine.Have fun,Steve..

I looked at the Vscatmart SCs but they are a little out of my price range so I was wondering how much time I would take to diy and how many things would require buying?
Will take any help I can get

Do you have access to a workshop, welding and milling equipment?
At £1795 I would consider the Vmaxscart a good price for a complete bolt on kit. You could spend at least that trying to build your own kit if you have to start buying equipment to do it.

Thanks I'm a beginner without access to a work shop so Ill stick with Vmaxscart kit then.

Unless your engine & box are in fair fettle, you could just be moving along the road to a major failure. If it's a standard 998 you can get a significant increase from improving the cylinder head. Chuck in a cam swap, which can be done without dismantling the engine on smallbore engines, and you could easily have equal power to a 1275 - which is possibly an even more cost effective way to get more oomph under the bonnet.

For a road going 998? Don't go mad on the duration, I reckon 266 degrees is as wild as you'd want for driveability and emissions.

A straight super charger would also be fu for the noise and the power but realistically you are 30cm off the ground and everything feels fast...
I would run the 998 tweaking it and then find a 1275 to fettle with.
