Back when your car was built the best polish on the market but a bugger to use was Simonize Yellow, a hard wax in a round tin.

The most popular shampoo was Turtle Wax Shampoo. The Turtle Wax polish was the most popular as it gave good results and easy to use.

Just going by what was sold in my shop at the time which was situated in a mainly second hand car sale road. The showroom valetters used mostly Autoglym products which, I don't think, were available to retailers back then.

Bilt Hamber Auto-Balm is worth a try and claims to be formulated specially for classic cars.

Do you want a wax or a polish? Wax is just that, the final protection. Polish contains varying degrees of 'cut' to polish out imperfections in the paint. Normally a wax or other finish would be applied after polishing.

Mini has recently been completely restored spray painted with cellulose paint in a yellow bronze pants perfect with lovely shine and want to keep it that way. Think I'm right in saying can't use any shampoo and wax wash or any wax to keep the condition because on traditional way it's painted. Asking about safe products recommended by other owners.

If it's freshly painted to a good standard then you shouldn't need any polish. A decent carnuba wax is always my choice for a good shine and an element of protection from the elements. I've used Pete's 53 for many years and it's easy to apply and never fails to show paint at its best. https://www.cleanyou...te-53-paste-wax

Harly wax carnauba wax is what I use, I also use waterless wash and wax as my estate leaks if water is used to wash the car.
