true. mine just fits under the passenger seat. I really should downsize itTrolley jacks are also very heavy to lug around in the boot "just in case" ..

Also keep in mind that with a flat tyre the car is even lower.
too right. I carry one in the car and had a flat at the front. couldn't get the jack under.. had to drive up a kerb then managed
I feel for a garage jack to do general maintenance to rebuilds, a trolley jack is the a good one to use.
For a Mini, I found the best jack to carry in it for changing flats and even minor road side repairs is the sill jack they came with or a scissor jack. Both store compact, weigh little, go very low, yet can raise up high. They are not terribly stable so not really recommended for doing any work per se, but for their intended use I think are fine.
I carry a triple lift, screw bottle jack for flats and roadside use. Fits under all conditions.

I found this in an old BMC manual so I made one myself. Makes lifting the front with a trolley jack really easy. JackBlock.JPG

This looks like it is lifting on the gearbox sump. Heard that is a no no as it stresses the engine/subframe mounts?

It fits over the front rail of the subframe and locates sideways on the tierod ears.No gearbox involved.Steve..
Spot on; I made mine to that drawing long ago - makes lifting the front a doddle.
