I'm after expanding my tool storage.
As much as I'd like snap on chests I'm not paying that sort of money.
I'm after a 9 drawer flip top chest to expand the cheap and nasty one Ive already got.
Can anyone recommend a nicely priced sturdy chest? Ive seen various ones on ebay which have good reviews but I cant see them being very good at 67 quid!
Does it look like Im going to machine mart for a hands on touchy feely day.

Nothing wrong with the Halfords ones.

i did pick up one of these “German” ones full of tools the cabinet ain’t bad.

but you will have fun getting a 9 draw one at a low cost.

I have a Clarke CTC900 which despite its relatively low price is still in almost new condition. Unless you're moving it around a lot the cheaper cabinets are pretty good imo.

My main concern is the gauge of the steel and smoothness of the drawers.
The one I have is (just) adequate but is light gauge steel.
Ill check halfords stuff as theres one near me and also a machine mart.
Ive seen some on ebay called hardcastle at 67 quid with good reviews but the name probably says it all. Lol
I think ill just have to go have a play in the shops rather than buying blind.

I have 2 of these https://www.halfords...ack-574100.html

1 Teng 8 or 9 draw unit and a cheap one full off tools like the face book sellers do. All work well and have better draw feel that my 1995 Snap-On top box drawers. The Halfords Advanced has beater drawers that the basic but I did not see the cost worth it. As I use them mainly to store larger rarely used tools.

I've got a big SGS Engineering stainless steel roll cab. It's ok. Can't grumble for the price.

Check out their site, they have got quite a good range of roll cabs/top chests.

Speaking from experience, I have found Machine Mart (Clarke) very good, hard wearing too

Not bought any tools though for a long time, last time was around 2017.

Halfords tools are good too - especially the lifetime warranty items - and they do replace items if they fail - no quibble (one time only)

As long as you get what you want - and are happy - a few extra £ is neither here or there unless its a £50 + more than anticipated

You got to have it for life - that's the idea.

My Halfords chest bottom drawer has 4 or 5 kg of weight in it (hammers and heavier tools) and works perfect, I actually need to run some lubrication along the hinges to keep them free moving.

Our roll cab is only 7 or 8 years old, hasn't been touched since we bought it and still does the job perfectly

I have the Halfords black ones which are great
They are on offer periodically so I bought them quite cheaply
Don’t buy the ones on Amazon. I had 3 goes and they all arrived dented
SGS look quite good

I bought three of these from Amazon (homcom brand) and the poster above is correct, all three were cosmetically damaged to some extent (and one was three days later than the others for some reason)

However, this meant I got some discount! So I ended up paying less than £180 for three.

Not the nicest drawers by any stretch of the imagination but they do the job

I've got a Sealey superline pro 7 drawer roll cab for work, very well made and easily has 200kg in it, still easy to move around and drawers open with no problems.
