Pary of my panel order was delayed meaning I didn't have the floor pans to continue on from where I left off so I decided to sort the boot floor and replace the valance.

First job, remove the old valance

hkXaXgE.jpg

JFUHgvs.jpg

It's all pretty good under there with just some surface rust for the most part.

One closing panel is fine so will not need replacing

81V3wwC.jpg

I'll just clean that one up.

The other side will need replacing as there is corrosion under the edge of it

vkzLWiA.jpg

So off with the old

d0RhIyn.jpg

And then after a clean up, I had to chop out sections of the back panel and boot floor to replace.

WGle6IF.jpg

mhyV5Be.jpg

And then on with the new closer

NX4yyBN.jpg

Next up, I prepped the new valance

Ov143b6.jpg

Clamped it on

kR0G8d7.jpg

And spot welded it into place

Cheers

After a few days, the other parcel arrived containing thr floor pans so I cracked on with that.

Here is the new left front pan marked up for rough cut

BKbmxEv.jpg

And then cut and positioned in place

P1IpgfB.jpg

Next I marked exactly where it needed cutting to join the existing floor and then trimmed and clamped into place

xnBywpT.jpg

And then tacked

2BJDJd3.jpg

I left a fairly big gap in the join as I intend to grind both sides flush after welding so need perfect penetration the whole way.

And here it is fully butt welded

vGWs8E3.jpg

And we have perfect even penetration the other side too

XfAv1h1.jpg

I gave it a grind up

FODOhs6.jpg

z9QCrKd.jpg

And then drilled and plug welded the front edge to the toe board

3WKJRHQ.jpg

Then I reclaimed the slinging bracket and welded that back

7P4rg8a.jpg

Then made and fitted a new carpet retaining plate

sKY4pLF.jpg

1gVnz9m.jpg

Job done.

Next up is the replacement step and outer sill.

Cheers

Ben

Next step is the step.

First thing to do is cut out this section of quarter panel to give me access.

It needs replacing anyway.

DrtDVyt.jpg

OW5W4gv.jpg

Then drill and cut the step off

a7Putkr.jpg

uA7jI6F.jpg

Then replace the jacking point

Oxhge9P.jpg

B4T2VMe.jpg

Next up, I trimmed the step panel down to just oversize and laid it in place to mark my cut lines

zglIdZ5.jpg

Then cut and welded

ZLXiiIA.jpg

Gwdtg6L.jpg

Then spot welded the rest

Ocn1kgJ.jpg

After that, I made up a new section of quarter panel to close off the previously opened up part

Lf2g920.jpg

And welded it in

Next job will be the outer sill and lower flitch repair.

Cheers

Next I prepped and clamped on the outer sill

NTZ6xpx.jpg

And then spot welded the top to the step and quarter panel

1Z19WLK.jpg

zMsjsGX.jpg

And then finished by plug welding the bottom edge to the inner sill and jacking point

622juza.jpg

xUDSJ0J.jpg

That just leaves the flitch repairs on this side now

All these small repairs start off with a card template

xvSWXY1.jpg

Then transferred to steel

Before being welded and dressed back

I made a start on the other side today

OTJW4jT.jpg

Dv0hVxZ.jpg

I cut the outer sill off

cu6ao48.jpg

And then made a decision on how much of the floor pan I will replace.

Here it is marked out for cutting

lDnA6gx.jpg

And then cut

1hf7ZU7.jpg

I then removed the lower section of flitch as it's a bit grotty

wXGJybL.jpg

Then had a good clean up

uKfnIvf.jpg

Before roughly trimming the new section of floor

IPJ4SdF.jpg

Here it is fully trimmed and clamped in place

jNGUCjn.jpg

Tacked

cLsLBJ0.jpg

And fully welded

Looking good Ben! Was there any numbers stamped on the lower section of the flitch to suggest it was the original inner wing?

Cheers.

There were no numbers stamped but also no evidence that its not the original inner wing.

It was all factory apart from the ugly mot patch

Cheers
