Function over form if you like so if the setup requires a longer suspension travel, they can be moved up with cut arches to suit.
My mind tells me the hinged brackets are so that they can be fastened where required without the brackets being at the wrong angle.
I could be wrong though.

I've been working at this but had nothing worthy of an update.
Just hours and hours of primer flatting.
It's almost done now so I will soon be moving onto the painting process.

Ok, I've given up in the arches for now.
I can't decide the exact position and with no wheels on the car, I'm not going to be able to get them just right so i have decided to wait until the car is reassembled.
So after days of sanding the last of the body prep is complete.
Now for the floor bungs.
Unfortunately I didn't order enough for some reason but I'll fit what I have.
First they push into the holes
Then I warm them with the hot air gun.
Keep going until the red seal starts to shine and melt. My gun on full power takes about 10 seconds
Then push firmly and evenly down with something flat and heavy.
I use a dolly
The underside looks like this
Then I bend the tabs back
And that's it.
Next job, sealing up.
Cheers

What is the purpose of floor bungs what do they do?
I think its a drain if the interior of the car got flooded you can pop them rather than resorting to drilling a hole..

What is the purpose of floor bungs what do they do?
When the shells are produced, they are coated in the factory using a process called rotodipping.
These holes are punched out during manufacture so that when the shells have been dipped the excess coating can drain out.
The steel bungs are then fitted to seal up the holes prior to the antidrum being applied over the top.
Some people replace with rubber bungs, others plate the holes up entirely. I like the originality of these steel bungs personally.
It's a common misconception that the bungs are there to be removed to drain out water if necessary..
