I run CIBIE H180 headlights with Osram Nightbreaker lamps. It’s not just wattage that counts, the beam pattern with the H180s are superior to anything else I’ve tried. Just very difficult to find the CIBIEs now though.

+1

Have you got these ones? And any pictures of them at night? My idles drops to near enough cutting out with my current headlights so would like some LED to hopefully not crop the power too much.

Im about a month off finishing mine and will be fitting Dapper lighting OE7s if they’re as good as they say are they should be incredible. They look very original as well and look they’ve been well made.
I can’t wait to get them in and see how good they are. Il post when I do

Another vote here for the Cibies.  Good quality units.  Not sure what to do if i need to replace them.

Which lamps are the proper domed shape?  I'm not keen on the flat lenses.  That dunt luk roight!

Did you have to purchase them directly from Dapper themselves?

I think the fact that you should run relays is probably more the vital piece of information vs. the power of the bulbs. It was literally like night and day for me switching from crusty old loom wiring to a set of relayed thick gauge wires.

I'll second that. The difference with simply uprating the wiring on my '72 with it's original loom was quite dramatic.

Sorry for the late reply, thanks for all the suggestions, even those no longer available O_O

I'm an electronic engineer so understand the need for relays/ thicker wire, but I was hoping to keep things looking as original as possible so will have a think.

Those Dapper lights look interesting!

Thanks again,

Nial

You can use the existing wires to switch the relays, live is at the starter right at the front.Four miniature relays mounted behind the grille hardly seen, all removable when/ if a new buyer objects. All less obvious than sparkly new lenses.
I may be a Luddite but why not drive more slowly and or more carefully.Steady elderly driver talking.Steve..
