When installing exhaust in the past, I typically just relied on the exhaust clamps themselves to seal things but I was told but a very reputable Mini tuner to use some sort of assembly paste/cement. I was getting a little blow by so I tried it. Over a year later, I noticed it again, coming from the Y-joint that connects the exhaust to the LCB header. Wondering if you guys have had any success with any particular product. Not looking to weld these pieces together with something as they will need to come apart down the road. Thoughts?

Any paste will do but how you clamp has differing results.

I use one of these to rectify any miss shaped pipes

and then use this type of clamp.

I think that if you still have the "cat", this might be the best option since it has no silicone that can damage the converter.

No cat anymore but thank you for the suggestion.

There is very little space between the 2 sections of the Y-pipe. The clamp you posted Nick might actually be perfect! These are the clamps I am currently using on this joint(s). They came with my Maniflow system back when I bought it. I think they do a decent job of displacing the pressure...but I'll take anything better:-)

Those do tend to pinch the tube and do need to be staggered. I stopped using them and the U type years ago.

I ordered some stainless T-bolt clamps and the some equivalent sealer as I could not find that Loctite version stateside. I'll keep you all posted once it arrives. Weather turned to near winter again so it was a perfect time to put the car in the air and sort this out.
