My late father made me a pair of tiny hardwood wedges for the windows on our Thirty, push them in up by the hinge, between the window frame and the rubber seal. They keep the windows open and no problem with them closing. Just remember to take them out before trying to close the windows!

Been using these since 1990 across all my minis, they live in the door pocket and are as much part of me as my cars are. Lovely sunny weather brings back happy memories of my dad whenever I use them.

A solution doesn’t need to be expensive or complicated.

Not sure I can match your late father's skills but taking your post as inspiration, here's a couple I made from a clothes' peg.Attached File  20220605_092707.jpg   38.08K   1 downloads

I have seen windows with a small clip on the over centre catch but I cannot for the life of me think where.
For the record mine stay open very well.

I had this problem, the catch mechanism has 3 hinge pins holding it together which over time had worked loose (it’s a 75 mini) the domed ends of the pins are on the top and the flared ends are on the bottom. I managed to give them a couple of whacks with a old drill bit to re -flare out the pins and been fine since. It’s a pain doing it with the glass in so I took it out.

Lots of great suggestions and feedback, but this sounds a "proper" solution to me and sounds like it could make it work like new again.

I've attached a photo pinched from Mini Sport - is this what yours looks like?  This is what my 1990 one looks like.   By flared ends I'm assuming you mean the "holes" at the end of each hinged bit?

A centre punch with a wide flare is better than an old drill or a suitably sized nail punch the pics are before and after. If you need to take the mechanism off the frame I’ve found these on EBay to reattach back on the frame.

5/32 x 1/4 inch-bifurcated split leg nickel plated steel rivets item no 223866614649. These rivets have a larger head than the originals but still don’t overhang the frame.
