Richard Hammond’s new show, Richard Hammond’s Workshop starts on the 18th October 2021 on Discovery+. The series includes a classic Mini restoration. The Smallest Cog is a new British firm that Hammond launched in memory of his grandpa, who was a craftsman at Mulliners and Jensen in Birmingham and West Bromwich. Additional funding was required to help with the business’s cash flow and provide this spin-off show. Hammond sold some of his car and motorcycle collection at Silverstone Auctions, to pay for this last August, making a total of £230,000. The collection included two motorcycles that he bought for his 40th and 50th birthday, plus a 1969 Porsche 911T, a 1927 Sunbeam Model 2 motorcycle, a classic 1999 Lotus Esprit Sport 350, a Velocette KSS Mk1 and a highly collectable 1977 Moto Guzzi Le Mans.
“The irony of me supporting my new classic car restoration business by selling some of my own classic car collection is not wasted on me,” said Hammond. “It is with a very heavy heart that they go, as they have a great deal of personal sentimental value, but they will be funding the future development of the business and giving life back to countless other classic vehicles.”

This sounds promising and looking forward to watching it, providing they show the 'right' amount of restoration, fingers crossed.

As it's more his show I hope he gets more of a say in the production/directing and it's not like your average car resto program.

God knows what he was thinking when he decided to do The Great Escapists, could barely get through the first episode.

Same here I don't have the Discovery+ channel so others will have to review and report back on whether Richard Hammond’s Workshop is any better or worse than the other tv shows that restore classic cars....

I don't do any paid TV (apart from the Beeb) so it's gonna be a while before I watch it!

Someone has kindly posted the first episode on YouTube:

Might have to be quick though as no doubt it'll be taken down at some point.

Watched both episodes last night on YouTube. It was more entertaining than factual and I think this is the road it's going down unfortunately so not much to be learnt from watching this. I'll continue to watch as I do like Richard Hammond but like Wheeler Dealers now there's nothing to be gained if you're restoring your own car.
