Guessworks has it on stock. From Japan it would be pricey due to duties.

Guessworks - NSR Baljoint - Set of Four BTRSC-NSR4 (guess-works.com)

I've installed them on my Mini, but it is not a daily, I drove just a few km's, I don't have too much experience. Easy to install, no shims.

I enjoy shimming, I am afraid to say. Nothing like remedying a sloppy balljoint.

I've ordered them also at guessworks. Run by a great guy to talk to. After odering and payment they where promply sent to the Netherlands. Have not installed them yet, but from the looks I guess I'm really pleased.

Only one question:
Did you remove the rubber dust cap (with blue spring) prior to torquing them up (using a deep socket) or did you use a spanner (and therefor no need to remove the dust cap).
I had a "trial go" at it and I removed the dust cap in oder to fit the deep socket only to find out what is pig it was to re-install the spring holding the dust cap afterwards.

Was it me or did I do something stupid here and should have used a big spanner instead if a deep socket ( as socket that I always used for installing shimmed ball joints)?

I thought they cam with the blue wire lock-ring separate and the instructions on how to fit?
I'm sure John has previously said that you can either remove the dust cover and use a socket, or use a crows foot wrench with a torque wrench.

You will get these ball joint with the rubber assembled.

For tightening to torque with deep socket you have to remove the rubber boot. It is not so difficult.

Torque is the same as the standard ball joint.

You can get a spanner to torque wrench adaptor to permit setting proper torues on inaccessible nuts and bolts. I have this one from Motion Pro and have used it lots on my classic bike head bolts. Works a treat.

Sealed ball joints are a great invention for sure buy I have not found the need in nearly 40 years of mini driving and I clock up a decent mileage in my daily driver that hasn`t needed any adjustment in a few years so for a car that`s used for sunny days I really don`t see the point.

A grease gun is also a great invention I guess  ;D

Did I read somewhere, maybe on this forum, that these ball joints weren’t suitable for cars with 10” wheels? Don’t know why, hubs are all the same, right?

Edit;  Checked with the source for these ball joints and he confirmed that they are a straight swap, regardless of wheel size.

Are you sure youre not referring to the extended ball joints for lowered cars? They may interfere but these should not.

I fitted a set bought from Guessworks. Having done 1000 miles now they are performing well though initially the steering was a bit stiffer. They are top quality and easy to fit.

Not sure who said that, but that's not correct.
