Im trying to fit my Tex Door Mirror using the the TEX Plastic Mirror Mounting Plinths that i brought so they fit my original holes. but i havent a clue how to fit them. the silver bit has the original holes go over the holes ok, but the plastic Mirror Mounting Plinths holes are wider apart. hmmm not sure what to do. tryed searching on how to fit them, but no luck. i dont want to start drilling holes, as thats why i got the TEX Plastic Mirror Mounting Plinths for :w00t:

Anyone know please, or have a link on how to fit. thanks :)

Right, just fitted a pair of these myself.

The ali' plate has 2 set of holes, 1 pair lines up with the holes in the door, the other pair with the 2 countersunk holes in the black plinth.

Now, the holes in the ali' plate where the bolts that secure the black plinth have no thread, and it is cut by the bolts that go in them.

Best bet is to do the initial tapping off the car so you have a good grip and don't damage the bolt, plinth or paintwork.

Hope that helps. If not I'll try and get some pics.

I’ve had to rap a bit of insulation tape round the black bit so the mirrors a nice snug push fit, then to tighten up the screw to stop them wobbling.

Cool,
I have to make another hole :w00t: the original holes are little bit slanted. so when i fix them in, i can see the other hole that the person made before me to fit the bullet mirrors on :)
So i have to have the plinth straight, to cover the hole. so at the mo, its holding on with one screw lol..
looks great tho.
when i in the left mirror, i can only see 3 quarters of the mirror its self.. that normal lol its not that bad :-

Same with mine, I’ve been trying to look for one of those blind spot stick on mirror things, which might help, if I could find one or I’m going to fit one of those overtaking mirrors that clamp to the seam trim.

if the hoels are apart, you will probably need the chrome plinths..it happened to my 1977 mini...I had to buy chrome ones, which actually were originally fitted to it as standard!

Here's how mine looks...I love them...and they're not wobbly..and also really suit the car :w00t:

The holes on my doors are at an angle as well. You shouldn't need to add holes, but I guess it depends on the age of your car

if i'm not mistaken up to about 1982 minis came fitted with these chrome mirrors with chrome plinths as standard...therefore you'll need them, I think.. :withstupid:
