Hello,

Has anyone fitted these?

https://www.ebay.co....0-127635-2958-0

Thinking of getting these for the 1990 Cooper as despite fitting cheap extender brackets, the seat isn’t much further back?

Do the above allow the seat to go further back than these…

http://www.minispare...|Back to search

Is there any issue with the rear seat mechanism still catching onto the floor hoop?, as I guess it pushes it back so much further?

Fitted these to my car with Microcell seats. Nice quality but only around an inch extra rearward movement. I'm 6' 2" and I'm fine with this. They do a stainless version but a bit blingy for my taste.

Kind regards,

paul.

I have the MiniSpares type. There were some homemade extenders on car when I acquired it, which did allow seat further back. But with my stock '88 seats, the limit becomes the seat back contacting the rear side bin edge. The minispares bracket can be in the last extension hole and just barely contact that edge if the seat back is a notch more upright that ideal for me.

There is another type of bracket, better overall design, from Steveston Motor Company.

But I think the limiting factor is again the parcel bin, at least with stock seats.

Yes the underseat latch hook will miss its latching point when at or near fully extended on bracket. This can either be ignored (seat will not flip up with you in it and a seatbelt fastened) or you can bend the hook to reach the catching point with seat right back on brackets.

Thanks, but too much money for zero adjustment and that racing holes look I don’t like, I prefer OEM.

Look at the DSNRetro sport ones.

Interesting those Stevenson ones, currently out of stock. Wish they did black.

I remember now I did have to bend the hook even with brackets I have now!

I recently purchased a set from Mini Spares, I have Cobra low back buckets fitted and found that the seat runners snagged on the brackets when tipping the seat forward preventing it from going far enough forward to get anyone in the back.

You probably want the Steveston Motor Co ones once they come back into stock since they offer loads more adjustment, but that said, I've actually used the Smiffysbits ones you linked at the top of your post and they worked well for me sitting in an Alfa Romeo GTV seat (I'm 6ft tall with pretty long legs). I don't think they're much further back or perhaps any further back at all compared to the cheapo brackets, but they're much more secure and safe, and putting my seat any further back than that would've caused clearance issues with the rear bins anyway. So it depends on your seats as well.

You had room in the back for anyone when using seat extenders is a surprise.

I've had both of these exact brackets, and currently have the ebay ones. I much prefer the ebay ones as they are black and more subtle, and I kept smashing my ankle on the Minispares ones!

Thanks all, I’m inclined to get the JB fab ones, also I’ll try their drop bracket too, looks way more sturdy than the cheapo one I used and then removed, as I couldn’t get the seat far enough back!

No definitely not room for anyone unless I clicked it forward a few notches and drive with my legs wide open at the knees
