The Form V112

Anyone completed this form?
Any facts, details, thoughts, experience appreciated.
Do helpful post office counter staff do this on your behalf whilst you're waiting for a tax form to be processed and without your knowledge / real awareness?
Or do you have to do it yourself.
And then there's the fact that things get done online.
Does it mean your car is 'Historic' ?
Thank you very mucho

It's an easy form to fill in, just use section R (historic) and sign it.
It's all free to apply for, my post office advised me on how to fill in the paperwork and logbook correctly.
Any other questions just ask

If the log book already has Historic Vehicle on it does that mean the V112 has already been done?

If the car is already Historic then I'd call the DVLA and ask. (I was on hold for 31 minutes when I called the DVLA in June to enquire about how to submit a V112 form on my Clubman Estate, that I'd made Historic in April (don't ask why it wasn't done at that point!)
If you have yet to register it as Historic then submit the Logbook (V5C) and the V112 in the same envelope, as they should both be done at the same time anyway.
Hope this helps

And thank you Beardy, my local post office didn't quite get it and told me best to phone but after what Cal just said (30 mins!) I'll try printing and sending in the V112.
Off I go

Some post offices have the form, others don't, it's hit and miss to be fair.
Print it off and then go into the post office and get them to post it recorded delivery

Then what happened? - I mean what did you get back / what changes were put upon the document?
And when you research your own vehicle on the Gov Vehicle Tax web site, does it give it to you straight? Like you don't need an MOT and what not...?

I got my new V5 and an application form to claim for what VED i had left on it. That's it. Car is MOT and Tax exempt by law; it's all on the .gov site.

My post office now have had other dealings with this, so know what to do.
I went in with the V112 and my logbook. They filled in the necessary part on my log book, scanned it, which shows them it' qualifies (because of date first registered) to be changed to historic and then sent it off for me. I'm now awaiting the new logbook with the glorious classification of historic vehicle and all that goes with that. Ulez schmoolez.
