I took the diff cover off a rod change box to remove the diff a while back.  I now want to put the box back together and am having trouble putting the interlock spool and selector rod back into the box.

I can't seem to get the interlock spool and selector shaft into the right position to allow the interlock spool to sit flush into the box and allow the detent ball etc to engage.  In case it makes a difference the box is a DAM 3220.

Any ideas as to how to achieve this?  Many thanks.

Firstly  check the box is in neutral, this will ensure the bell cranks are aligned with each other. next turn the selector shaft and its sleeve anti clockwise until the selector ear is pointing upwards slide the selector shaft and sleeve forward until the selector shaft ear and sleeve align with the slot in the bell crank, rotate shaft and sleeve clock wise until the ear is horizonal and engaged in the stack of bell cranks. back of the sleeve should now be flush with the casing face, refit ball and spring. use a piece of plate with a suitable bolt hole in it; use one of the side casing tapped holes to bolt the plate depressing the dedent spring. you can now test your gear selection without further assembly.

Hope this helps
