No emotions, I'll let the photos and the video do the talking. O_O

Bit of history:

  • Bought in May 2019, kept on car for most days until September 2019, when car went for bodywork.

  • Cover was aired, folded, and kept in a dry place until June 21.

  • Used for just over 2 months in 2021 (i.e. 6 months exposed to the elements) - this is the condition 12 August 2021.

The gaffa tape is mine - though as you can see it's a losing battle:

Hi, yes horribly familiar, mine have lasted slightly longer, i suspect whilst being water proof and allowing breathing they don’t like the uv sunlight.

and also an over tight fit on an MPi.

I agree with YJO, it looks to me to be breaking down from UV.

Have you spoken to Mini Spares ?

By contrast I've used a Coverzone Voyager for the last couple of years and it's been great.

Yes it's definitely something to do with UV. I reckon the material is completely vulnerable to UV and even mild exposure must be kicking off some sort of chain reaction even when it was in storage.

Minispares were good - it's out of warranty but they offered a discount on a new one, which I declined for obvious reasons.

I'm hoping Google will complete its crawl tonight and pick up this post as information in search results for future buyers. The Storm force covers are everywhere on the internet - seem to be licensed to other sellers in the UK. Hopefully people will get an idea of the longevity.

The same has happened to mine, but it has lasted much longer than yours before breaking down (approx year and a 1/2 to two years). For me I'd rather have a cover that protects what's underneath it and gradually breaks down than something that lasts forever, but doesn't breath and ends up rotting what your trying to protect....unless anyone knows of a better cover for a mini!

Every car covered.... Got one on my Clubman Estate and has been great, the only issue is that care is needed when fitting to the car so it doesn't scratch the paint. (I cover the car with a quilt then fit the cover.)

These are not as good as they make out, having bought 2 of these and other copies, which with luck you get 18 months use . I ended up buying a trike cover , the trike cover replacement is far cheaper .and last a lot longer

Worst thing for me about these covers,is how they rub the paintwork if it’s very windy.
Car has to be clean when it’s covered up also.
When I eventually get my next mini I’m going to get an outdoor carcoon for it-no damp whatsoever then.

I'd really like one of those fancy brick and tile covers that come with a handy little door on the front...... :dozing:

Seriously - I have three of these Stormforce type covers (not the brick/tile ones unfortunately)  and the first one I got is on its last legs - about three years old

My car is off for a mop and touch-up in Sept, so I hope to have a wooden shed ready for its return...the StormForce cover I have has rubbed the paint cloudy on the ns wing over last year's windy winter.

m-m-m - three years is bloody good going for one of these covers.
