How much does it cost to replace inner and outer sills and front floorpan, both sides? I have had 2 quotes one £320 and one at £1600. As you can see a great deal of difference. Which one is nearer the correct price. First one seems too cheap and second one too high, so what should i be looking to pay?. This is for the labour as i have all the parts needed.
Thanks.

What sort of inner sills are they, if they are the type that fit around the central crossmember then they probably aren't what you need as they don't really put much strength back, if you need inner sills you need the whole section that replaces the edge of the floor/inner sill front to back.

In terms of work I would expect to spend three days on the cutting and welding so £320 doesn't sound enough, I would have thought with any materials they need it should be £1000-1200 assuming that it doesn't need any paintwork and it only needs undersealing/stone chipping and you supply the panels.

Okay.thanks. not sure if the inner sills need replacing or not .they look okay but the outer sill is rotten but only at the front end and the passenger side floor is rusty where rain has leaked in the garage where it has been stored for 20 years. It was perfectly okay when i drove it in there. Ive had the car from new -33 years. Im looking that i might as well get both sides done at the same time even though the drivers side seems okay. Want to restore it to its former glory. Im not too worried about cost just dont want to be ripped off.

Agree with Homersimpson. I've just spent £1200 on new outer sills but this also included work on door steps, floor, inner arches, rear subframe removal and replacement, and a roof repair. I provided the parts. £320 not enough for what you describe imo.

Is the £320 quote just going to weld the new panels over the top of the existing in the same manner as oversills are fitted to get an old Mini through its MOT for a couple more years?

I would expect to pay £320 for the quick MOT pass bodge job above.....

I would expect to pay around £1000-£1600 for a full inner/outer sill & front floor replacement, painting, etc to a high standard for a classic car and depending what work you will do to finish yourself....labour rates of course depend what part of the country you are in.

Allow maybe 8 hours labour per side for a 'proper job', then add paint and materials.

At an hourly rate of c.£50 per hour that is £800, plus inner, outer and some floor panels, plus jacking points.

Then add the VAT.

I would say the first price is somewhat suspicious maybe the second price more realistic.

Welding in full inner sills is a large job which does require removal of the companion bins to do correctly.
