Had a trip out in the mini last night and it came back minus the chrome trim that runs along the sills (on one side).

What's the best replacement to get/where from etc?

Also mine has group 2 arches - will that make any difference?

Last question - the fact the one has just dropped off! Is it best to use some sort of adhesive to hold the new chrome trim in place? If so, what sort of afhesive?

Many thanks

Marc

If we are talking about just a sill trim, then which type is it? There is a fluted version and just a plain U channel type.

If the fluted type, you can but it from minispares. I use their one regularly and it's good.

I've not used the U channel type before but I would imagine the likes of phoenix trims would be your best bet for that.

As for keeping them on, it may concern an idea to use some polyurethane adhesive sealer on each end to keep it in place.

Probably not a good idea to stick the whole thing or it would be a nightmare to get off if you needed to do so.

Cheers

Ben

Thanks Ben - just been on Mini Spares and unfortunately the one thats still on the car, doesn't look like either of the ones that Minispares sell.

They do a fluted one (as you say) and a standard U shaped one.

The one on my mini is like a U, but when the U slots on and abuts the side of the car it turns upwards, so it has like a small vertical upstand  - best way I can describe it....looks a bit like an upside-down question mark (without the dot)

When its on the car it looks like the one in the picture on this link - might well be the fluted one from Mini Spares, but their diagram of it doesn't half look different! https://www.ebay.co....LBoC2v4QAvD_BwE

Any ideas??

Can't help with sourcing the correct profile but for fixing I used a Dinatrol thick wax underseal. I was using the underseal elsewhere and it's perfect for attaching the side trim. Stops rust forming and can be heated with a hair dryer if you want to remove the trim.

The one in your ebay link is the same as the nibispares fluted one by the looks of it.

Cheers
